1. The Reason for Postgraduate（考研动机）
1.1 Why do you want to pursue postgraduate education instead of staying in the job?
OK, after graduation, I worked as a doctor in a small hospital in Luoyang. I once believed that experience is more important than theoretical knowledge, at least for doctors. But it turned out that I was wrong. Now I see theories as the foundation,
experience as walls and decorations. Both are essential if you want to be a qualified doctor. Besides, according to my working experience in that hospital, I think I need to broaden my eyes to learn from experienced predecessors so that I can deal with complex situations in the future. That’s why I decided to quit my job for further education.
为什么你不想留在工作岗位上，而想继续深造？
好吧，毕业后，我在洛阳一家小医院当医生。我曾经认为经验比理论知识更重要，至少对医生来说。但结果证明我错了。现在我认为理论好比是地基，经验是上面的墙和其它装饰内容。如果你想成为一名合格的医生，两者都是必不可少的。此外，根据我在那家医院的工作经验，我认为我需要开阔视野，向经验丰富的前辈学习，以便将来能够应付复杂的情况。这就是我决定辞职继续深造的原因。
1.2 Why do you want to study in postgraduate school instead of finding a job?
The reasons behind this are as listed below.
For one thing, I am really fond of my major, and I have gained a comprehensive knowledge on my field after four years’ study. Meanwhile, with the passage of time, the more I have learned, the clearer I become to realize that I still lack some certain knowledge concerning my major, so I decide to further my study during the postgraduate period in the coming three years in order to enhance my professional skills.
For another thing, now many companies and institutions improve the educational requirements. Furthering my study can also sharpen my skills and ability concerning my future work. And I will have more choices for my vocation.
So, I am looking forward to making a solid foundation for my future profession through two/three years’ postgraduate study.
你为什么要在研究生院学习而不是找工作？
这个问题的原因如下。
一方面，我很喜欢我的专业，经过四年的学习，我对自己的专业有了全面的了解。同时，随着时间的推移，学习的越多，我越能更清晰认识到，我仍然缺乏关于我的专业的一些知识，所以我决定进一步的学习，在未来三年的研究生时期加强我的专业技能。
另一方面，现在许多公司和机构提高了教育要求。进一步学习也可以提高我今后工作的技能和能力。未来我将有更多的就业选择。
因此，我期待着通过两年/三年的研究生学习为我未来的职业打下坚实的基础。
1.3 Why do you choose our university？
I would put it down to the following three reasons.
First of all, the university enjoys a good reputation in this field. I think as one of the most famous universities in our country, it provides people with enough room to get further enrichment.
Secondly, when I came here for the first time, I was deeply impressed by the cultural and academic atmosphere. Of course, its environment is also very clean and beautiful. Especially, the air quality here is really wonderful and attractive.
Last but not the least, our university is located in ... It is near my hometown. So, it is convenient for me to work and study.
So, these are my simple and clear reasons why I want to study in your department.
你为什么选择我们大学？
原因有以下三点。
首先，这所大学在这一领域享有良好的声誉。我认为，作为我国最著名的大学之一，它为学生提供了进一步提升的空间。
其次，当我第一次来到这里时，我被这里的文化和学术氛围深深吸引。当然，它的环境也非常干净和美丽。尤其是这里的空气质量非常好，非常吸引人。
最后而且也很重要的是，我们大学位于 ... 。它离我的家乡很近。所以对我来说工作和学习都很方便。
所以这些是我想在贵校学习的简单而清楚的理由。
1.4 Why do you decide to major in ……?
The reasons that come to my mind are as follows.
From the beginning, it is out of my own interest. I have a profound love for …... During holidays, I have gotten an opportunity to work for a company as a trainee. When I first acquainted myself with the knowledge of …..., I was attracted deeply. This major is exceedingly fantastic and interesting.
What’s more, interdisciplinary learning has many merits. My undergraduate major is …..., which is different from …..., but concerning about my postgraduate study. Most theoretical innovation roots in interdisciplinary. Studying two majors will help me to broaden my horizon and get out of the single thinking limitation.
Taking these reasons into consideration, I have decided to shift my major and learn …... during postgraduate study.

我想到的原因如下。
首先，这是出于我自己的兴趣。我热爱…...专业。假期里，我有机会在一家公司当实习生。当我第一次熟悉…...的知识时，我被深深地吸引了。这个专业非常精彩有趣。
更重要的是，跨学科学习有许多优点。我的本科生专业是…...，与…...不同，但与我的研究生学习有关。创新源于跨学科学习，两个专业将帮助我拓宽视野、摆脱单一的思维限制。
